Welcome Back To Our Goalball Fundraiser! Your Support Makes A Difference!

We are thrilled to invite you to our upcoming fundraiser to support the incredible sport of goalball! First and foremost, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all past supporters whose generous contributions have significantly impacted our athletes' journeys. Goalball is a unique team sport designed for visually impaired athletes, where players rely on sound to track the ball and score goals. Your contributions are vital in covering travel expenses, tournament fees, and other necessary costs that ensure our athletes can compete at their best. Thank you for being part of this inspiring community and helping us make a difference in the lives of these exceptional athletes.

What is Goalball?

Goalball is a team sport specifically designed for athletes with visual impairments. It was invented in 1946 by Austrian Hanz Lorenzen and German Sepp Reindle as a way to help rehabilitate visually impaired World War II veterans. The sport was officially introduced to the world at the 1976 Summer Paralympics in Toronto, Canada, and has been a Paralympic sport ever since.

The game is played on a rectangular court with goals at either end. Each team consists of three players who try to throw a ball embedded with bells into the opposing team's goal. Players rely on their sense of hearing and touch to track the ball and block it from entering their goal. All players wear eyeshades to ensure a level playing field, as some may have different levels of visual impairment. The ball, weighing about 1.25 kilograms (2.76 pounds), is made of hard rubber and has several bells inside to help players locate it.

Goalball is an intense, fast-paced sport that requires excellent communication, teamwork, and spatial awareness. It is an incredibly empowering activity for visually impaired athletes, providing both physical exercise and a strong sense of camaraderie.

Our Fundraiser: Superbowl Squares

We are excited to organize a Superbowl Squares fundraiser to support our goalball athletes. Superbowl Squares is a fun and engaging way to raise funds while enjoying the excitement of the Superbowl. Here’s how it works:

1. Purchase Squares: Participants buy squares on a 10x10 grid. Each square represents a potential score combination for the Superbowl game.

2. Random Assignment: Once all the squares are purchased, numbers from 0 to 9 are randomly assigned to each row and column of the grid. The rows represent the last digit of the score for one team, and the columns represent the last digit of the score for the other team.

3. Winning Combinations: At the end of each quarter of the game, the person who owns the square corresponding to the last digit of each team's score wins a prize. For example, if the score at the end of the first quarter is Team A: 14, Team B: 7, the winning square would be where the row for 4 (Team A) intersects with the column for 7 (Team B).

This fundraiser is a great way to get everyone involved and excited about supporting our athletes. The funds raised will go towards travel expenses, tournament fees, equipment, and other necessary costs to help our goalball team compete and succeed.
